The ODG Moves Under Institutional Effectiveness

As the academic year ends, the Office of Data Governance (ODG) has some exciting news to share. The ODG recently transitioned to the Institutional Effectiveness team, led by Nancy Mueller, associate provost. This alignment provides a better position to mature our institutional data culture, literacy, quality and enable greater efficiency of resources. The ODG’s strategic vision is still the same, to support a robust, shared decision-making model easing greater alignment of responsibility and accountability for our data-related activities. Many thanks and appreciation to Erin Culbreth for her leadership and support over the years.

WashU’s Data Governance Program is built on these guiding principles:

  • Leadership Strategy
  • Program & Stewardship Roadmap
  • Roles & Responsibilities
  • Policies, Processes, Standards
  • Program Metrics – measure our effectiveness and growth.
  • Collibra Application – supporting Data Governance
  • Communications, Change Management, Collaborative Relationships & Marketing

As we move forward, we will continue to gain better understanding of WashU’s data. Our data is central to our institution’s applications, integrations, files, databases further enabling us to gain more value as we become a stronger data-informed community. When we create and keep data, effective data governance is critical to ensure WashU is positioned to be the best in-class for delivering accurate, trusted and reliable data.
